5 Million Club

Something I made from way back when.

When I said that I had about 80% of the 5 million hit videos, I was very mistaken. Today I did another hour’s worth of searching. The searching wasn’t difficult but it was tedious.

So how did I find more 5 Million Club Videos? It was simple really. All I had to do was type in the word “music” in the search bar and hit enter.

For one hour I went through 16 pages worth of music video. In that span I added 210 videos to my 5 Million Club collection. Wow. I didn’t know that there were that many music videos on Youtube.

Some artists were really popular on Youtube. Rihanna must have had at least 4 5-million-hit video. Other artists that are now in the club include Chris Brown, Enrique Iglesias, Snoop Dogg, Avril Lavigne and of course the Fabulous Samwell with his hit single “What What (In the Butt).”

Just as professional videos made the cut, unprofessional videos also scored a lot of hits. Videos called AMV’s or Anime Music Videos proved to be rather popular. Most of the popular AMV’s feature popular songs and video cut from various Anime TV shows and video games. Some of the more popular AMV’s features splices from shows like Dragon Ball Z and video games like Final Fantasy VII.

So I learned today that music is insanely popular on Youtube. Yay learning.

So after searching for a total of 3 hours over the past 3 days I think I’ve found all the videos with over 5 million hits. If not all of them I think I’ve found at least 80% of them, I think.

Now here comes the hard part: finding all the videos with 1 million hits and 5 stars ratings.

There are a lot of of 1 million-hit videos on Youtube. A lot of them are hard to find. So far I’ve been semi sucessful. I’ve been looking all over for recommendations from other websites. Many of the people have been helpful and told what video I can add to the 192 videos I already have. Anyway the search goes on.

However, while I was searching I began to ask the question: Why in Hell am I doing this? At first It was just a quest to in my boredom but now I realized something interesting. I could use this as research. By going through the top video in youtube, you get a sense for what is popular among my generation.

Some things are going to be popular no matter what. Sex, sex, and sex are popular on the internet. For these same reasons, it’s popular (though not explicitly) on Youtube. However somethings on Youtube are really unique to us (Generation WWW as I call).

By looking at what we watch on Youtube, we can see what we are, and what are predecessors are not.

Anyway, if you have any video that have 5 million hits or 1 million hits with a 5 star rating comment below. Right now I have a lot of comedy and soft-core porn. Some areas of Youtube have remained unexplored.

In the upcoming days I’ll tell you what exactly I’m going to do with these videos. ; )

So I went searching for another 40 minutes today. I found about 40 more videos to add to the 5 Million Club.

In the meantime I’ve been enjoy this newly found Abridged series Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged. Now I ‘ve been looking for all sort fo the abrigded series online ever since I saw the epically amazing Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged. Most of the Abridged series are not the funny. They sound like random rambling instead of good jokes. One Piece Abridged and the Pokemon Movie Abridged are perfect examples of such a scenario. For instance, the all of Bleach Abridged Series are especially bad.

The Naruto Abridged series is okay, but definitely not genius. And lastly the Avatar Abridged series is okay. Avatar Abridge is one the those weird series that get funnier the more you think about and the more you watch them. Plus it’s not very funny if you haven’t seen the show.

So when I came across Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged, I was delighted. I haven’t watched the show but It is very good and worth your time. It also has the best theme song ever!!! If anything watch Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged for the theme song.

However, after sampling all these series only Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged was able to make the 5 Million Club. Hopefully Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged will join their ranks some day.

So I went searching for videos on Youtube that had 5 million hits or 1 million hits with 5 stars.

I went searching for and hour and a half and I found 155 videos already.

Damn that’s a lot. I’ll have to go through some of the videos and find out what videos are actually good and which videos are mostly stupid.

The list keeps growing. However, after my searching, I was surprised that certain videos had not made the cut.

For instance, “Salad Fingers Episode 1″ was close to join the 5 million club but fell short. It has over 4 million hits and an rating of 4.5 stars. Hopefully, some day in the near future, Salad Fingers will join the ranks of the 5 Million Club.

To my surprise, none of Ron Paul speeches were able to join the ranks of 5 million club. He came close because he had one video, “Ron Paul Courageously Speaks the Truth”, with over 1 million hits. However this video did not have a 5 star rating, thus it couldn’t be added. Barack Obama barely made the club with his “Barack Obama: Yes We Can” video that has 1 million+ hits and a 5 star rating. Oddly all the highly rated, biggest hit getting videos about Hilary Clinton and John McCain are always hating on the two candidates.

I also realized that many of the videos in the 5 Million Club were not original videos. I will be removing them shortly. However until I have the time to look through these videos, I will have them in the club.
