5 Million Club

I’m back from my vacation in Atlanta. Right now I’ve been going through the 5 Million Club playlists and trying to cleaning them up.

There isn’t must to report as of now. I’ll update you guys later.

So in the past two days I’ve been continuing my search for more 5 Million Club worthy videos. I typed in the word Anime in the search box and found about 10 more videos. Then I did another search for sports related videos and found yet, 20 more.

The sport videos were very difficult to categorize. Most were in between WTF and Comedy and some probably deserved a category of their own. I’m thinking about changing the WTF category to the “WTF Holy Sh*t Hot Daaamn” categories because all the amazing videos I found. Not only did I find cool German gymnasts bending themselves into pretzels but stunt videos showing guys jumping off of building. I also found a show called “Balls of Steel” that was quite amusing.

As of now I have 455 videos between all the playlists. This number is inflated though. Again I might have 1 video listed twice and there is the chance that I have bootleg-videos that are not the creation of the user.

Though I’ve included a lot of these videos into my playlists I have yet to watch most of them. One day I get around to watching some of these videos but for now I’ll just be adding more to the list.

In the meantime, I’m working on my own animation mini-series. I have the first episode almost done I hope that to release the video by the end of the week.

So I been gone for a while. I was in LA with no Computer for Fourth of July.

Before I left for LA, I organized the 5 million Club Videos. I found out that putting them all into one group would make it hard for people to watch and enjoy the 5 Million Club Videos. Below are the categories.

Classics
Playlist
These are the Videos that Make Youtube, Youtube. Videos like “Chris Crocker - LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!” and “Numa Numa” go into this category.

Comedy
Playlist
All Videos that are made to make people laugh go in to this category. It one of the bigger categories and my favorites by far. The category includes “How to be Ninja” and “Powerthirst”

Politics and Religion
Playlist
This category includes high hitting political videos. This category also includes all of the material making fun of the Politics issues as well.

Purely Music

This is by far the largest category on Youtube. It probably the most illegal one too. I should go through and take all the the videos that don’t have legal license to post these videos. Anyway, these videos are those that purely about the Music. It was so big that i had to make 2 Playlists to hold all the videos I’m found so far.

Soft Core

In case you didn’t know, there’s a healthy amount of porn on Youtube. You have to be 18 or older to see the hard core porn but there is plenty of Soft Core Porn and “Let talk about sex” videos on Youtube. I decided not to include hard core pron videos because though I’m over 18 I’m not sure if the all the watchers of the 5 Million Club are.

All those wildly popular, stupid videos about babies laughing and animal jumping up and down go here. Charlie bit my finger - again ! I might get rid of this category and move all the videos else where. So if this link doesn’t work later on, don’t be alarmed

WTF
PlayList
All the videos that really do not make any sense were placed in this category. A lot of randomness and “almost-funny-videos” are in this category.

So that’s all the categories. In the mean time I’m working on a video mini series that I hope will be able to join the ranks of the 5 Million Club so day. I’ll blog about that later.

This is the silliest promotional videos I could possibly come up with.

And for the record I don’t like squirrels.

So after searching for a total of 3 hours over the past 3 days I think I’ve found all the videos with over 5 million hits. If not all of them I think I’ve found at least 80% of them, I think.

Now here comes the hard part: finding all the videos with 1 million hits and 5 stars ratings.

There are a lot of of 1 million-hit videos on Youtube. A lot of them are hard to find. So far I’ve been semi sucessful. I’ve been looking all over for recommendations from other websites. Many of the people have been helpful and told what video I can add to the 192 videos I already have. Anyway the search goes on.

However, while I was searching I began to ask the question: Why in Hell am I doing this? At first It was just a quest to in my boredom but now I realized something interesting. I could use this as research. By going through the top video in youtube, you get a sense for what is popular among my generation.

Some things are going to be popular no matter what. Sex, sex, and sex are popular on the internet. For these same reasons, it’s popular (though not explicitly) on Youtube. However somethings on Youtube are really unique to us (Generation WWW as I call).

By looking at what we watch on Youtube, we can see what we are, and what are predecessors are not.

Anyway, if you have any video that have 5 million hits or 1 million hits with a 5 star rating comment below. Right now I have a lot of comedy and soft-core porn. Some areas of Youtube have remained unexplored.

In the upcoming days I’ll tell you what exactly I’m going to do with these videos. ; )
